She reads closely the language and tactics militants used, analyzing their challenges in the courtroom, on the street, and through legislation as reasoned actions of female citizens. The differences in strategy among militants are highlighted, not just in the use of violence, but also in their acceptance and rejection of the authority of the law and their definitions of the ideal relationship between individuals and the state. Variations in the nature of protest continued even during World War I, when most suffragettes suspended their activities to serve the nation's war effort, while others joined peace movements, opposed the state's reduction of civil liberties in wartime, and continued the struggle for suffrage.
Mayhall's revealing account of the militant suffrage movement sheds new light upon the social history of gender but, more importantly, it connects this movement to the political and intellectual history of Britain. Bob loved to travel. This book was born out of a 5,000 mile road trip. While Bob was was driving to a marriage conference and then his return home the Lord spoke to Bob.

There is nothing remarkable about a man taking a trip, except that in 1995 Bob suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed. The doctors were preparing his wife, Charlyne, for a husband confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

Our mighty God restored Bob's health. Since that time, he has suffered another stroke and has undergone brain surgery. Each time, God has brought His healing touch to the Steinkamp home.

Miracles of healing were nothing new to the Steinkamps. In 1985, their marriage of nineteen years was paralyzed by a divorce. Charlyne turned to the Lord for His healing touch. Two years later, Bob and Charlyne were remarried to each other.

After his recovery, Bob desired to attend a marriage conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His medical condition did not allow him to fly, so he drove, alone. Throughout that journey, the Lord spoke to Bob, reminding him time and time again, how precious was his health and his marriage. Rejoice on the Road is a report of that journey that will bless and encourage you.

A gentle blend of wisdom, hope and love for prodigals & standers alike

Bob's unique writing style takes you with him, through those roads he travels along the book. It is written as a conversation between him and you the reader, as a friend. It only took me a few pages to realise I would enjoy the journey. It is full of Biblical wisdom in a very contemporary and relatable environment. I am still to finish reading it, because I don't want to finish reading. Yes, it is that good. I didn't just learn about marriage restoration (although the book does an excellent job at teaching about that), but also about everyday subjects Bob probably didn't realise his book would teach too. This book is a gentle cocktail of hope, wisdom, love and again...love. Thank you Bob. And a great thanks to God for using Bob to share these little lessons with us. I will stand for my marriage restoration. And along the way, I'll make sure to pick up all the lessons God has for me.

A review of Real World Research

As the title suggests, this book is for researchers faced with 'real world' challenges like limited time, money and the need to address a presenting problem or issue. Its chapters cover everything from how to write a research proposal to getting your research published and acting on your findings. In between, the reader is offered overviews on different data collection and analysis methods covering quantitative and qualitative approaches. Pages 244-6 offer an example of a well set-out questionnaire - something that anyone who has ever sat down to design a survey has probably wished for.
Real World Research will suit people from a variety of disciplines including health, education and the social sciences who are looking for a book to guide them through the research process. Well written and easy to read, it is also comprehensive enough to suit the 'dabbler' who wants to learn about a particular methodology but doesn't want commit themselves to an entire book on the one approach.

Ick! Epitome of boring textbook. Some concepts are explained in-depth, and some not so much. Many of the approaches to research don't include enough detail to allow students to fully understand how they differ from similar approaches and require readers to find alternate sources to fill in the details. The writing style leaves a lot to be desired. It is very dry, boring reading and it is very difficult to stay focused long enough to finish a chapter.

This book is written so anyone can understand. The chapters are full of useful information that will stay with. Be aware the kindle version has no page numbers in the table of contents. The author is from England so most of his examples and websites are England based.

Poorly Written, but Interesting

I received all 7 books for Christmas because I enjoy learning trivia about my home state. The writting of this book is lacking with many grammatical errors and simple sentences. The best way to describe it is that each page is written like a 5th grade book report.

Each page focuses on a different topic. It would help if the book was organized by geography, or subject, but as it's written it jumps from topic to topic.

Having said that, I think they'd be fun for the right age group. I plan on visiting many of the "Mystic" sites in Michigan to check them out. Many of them are near the family cabin and will be fun to explore with my neice.

Overall, I'm happy I recieved this series for Christmas, but I'm not sure I would spend my own money on the books.
